What is a Transponder?
A transponder key has an electronic chip placed inside the head of the key. This then transmits a signal to the car when the key is inserted in the car ignition.
A transponder key essentially provides a vehicle with an immobilizer/security system.
A radio frequency device capable of receiving a radio signal and responding to it.
Why a Transponder?
A cost effective, reliable way of ensuring only authorised keys can be used to start the vehicle. This is then an additional security measure, over and above the physical keys and locks usually found on cars
